Speciality:
Visitor research and evaluation enables arts and heritage organisations to prove the worth of what they do, and to plan effective work for the future. I specialise in participatory evaluation and gathering robust evidence of outcomes and impacts. I develop evaluation frameworks which are practical to use, for organisations’ core work and for grant-funded projects. To increase organisations’ capacity and sustainability, I deliver evaluation training to staff and volunteers so they can carry out their own research.
Background:
Since starting out in museum education, my work has expanded to cover visitor research, evaluation, community consultations, audience development and creating learning programmes for all ages. Current and recent clients include Historic England, National Trust and National Glass Centre, as well as small volunteer-run organisations. Projects have covered theatre, participatory arts, libraries, archives, archaeology, capital works to historic buildings and the natural environment.
