Marge specialises in project evaluation (summative) and audience consultation (formative). She is particularly interested in the use of digital technologies within qualitative research methods. She is skilled in using research tools such as in-depth interviews, consultation groups and participatory research techniques. Marge is currently undertaking training in Social Return on Investment (SROI) evaluation.
Marge launched Marge Ainsley Marketing in 2008 after working in various marketing and research roles in museums and galleries across Yorkshire and the NW of England. She is a specialist in audience research and is a Member of the Market Research Society (MMRS) and a Member of the Visitor Studies Group. Her clients include The Prince’s Foundation for Children and the Arts, London Transport Museum, Manchester Art Gallery and Museums Development Northwest. Marge was awarded a Distinction in her MA Arts & Heritage Management from the University of Sheffield and also holds a BA (Hons) English Language and Art History 2.1 from the University of Lancaster. She is the northwest member representative for the Arts Marketing Association, a Member of the Museums Association, and a Member of the NW Yorkshire and Humberside Federation of Museums. Marge was voted one of the 50 best freelancers in the UK by The Drum marketing magazine in 2012. She has previously delivered training to sector professionals and students, including at the Northwest Museums Federation, Eden Rivers Trust and The University of Sheffield. She presented a paper based on research findings at Manchester Art Gallery at the Museum 2012: the socially purposeful museum conference in Taiwan (November 2012).
