The Visitor Studies Group: Championing excellent visitor experiences

Call for proposals 2026

We’re delighted to share our Call for Proposals for VSG Conference 2026.

The theme is: Experimenting with our Practice.

Evaluation and research don’t always follow the path we originally envisioned. Finding the answers to our evaluation questions often involves failure and learning. With the introduction of new technologies, and the need to engage wider groups of audiences, particularly those who are historically underrepresented in our organisations, we want to explore the theme of experimentation. This ranges from experimenting with methodologies, reporting and engagement to any other new methods you are using to encourage evidence-based decision-making.

We encourage you to bring fresh perspectives, with research and evaluation at their core, from both inside and outside the sector that can help us move visitor studies forward in interesting and innovative ways.

We welcome input from anyone who can address the theme in a creative, collaborative or meaningful way to share their own experiences of using a variety of approaches and methodologies in research and evaluation both now and in the future.

The conference date and venue are still to be confirmed. The VSG committee is working hard to confirm a conference location and will share this information soon. This will include access information, speaker set up information and how to get there. Further details about the programme, venue, and pre-meet social to follow.

Like last year, we’re collecting proposals via

Google Form submission

Applications for a 5-minute Lightning Talk can be submitted in a separate Lightning Talk form

We’re also offering 20 minute sessions with the committee to discuss your idea, should you want to, between 10am and 1pm on Friday 12 December 2025, and between 2pm and 5pm Monday 12 January. These are bookable via Calendly
