I help organisations to understand their stakeholders. I design and undertake research and evaluation that supports organisations and their projects in meeting stakeholder needs – whether audiences, senior managers within the organisation or funders. I also build and test evaluation frameworks and provide research advice so that organisations can undertake research in-house or be more effective research commissioners. Other areas of work include evaluation of research funding schemes, including those that support public engagement activities.
I am a social researcher with over 30 years’ experience. Since 2012 I have been a freelance researcher. Previously I co-owned and ran People Science & Policy Ltd for 11 years. Immediately before that I worked for the Wellcome Trust as head of communication and education after leaving IPSOS RSL where I was director and head of social research. I have recently worked with a range of organisations including central government departments, charities, public sector bodies such as the research councils and private sector consultancies.
I am a member of the Social Research Association and a Certified Member of the Market Research Society. From 2012 until 2015 I have been a member of ESRC’s Evaluation Committee.
I have presented research findings to senior staff, including leading scientists, civil servants, Government Ministers and at national and international conferences in the UK, France, Germany, Hungary, the USA and South Africa.
